Think Pink Nails
Travel along the hidden tracks of Jalan Batu Belig, less than 10 minutes from the heart of Seminyak and you will find Think Pink Nails, the first New York-style salon in Bali.
Boasting over 1,200 shades of nail colours, from premium brands such as Chanel and Dior, to the standard O.P.I and Butter, this New York style nail parlour will transport you out of traditional Bali and into the modern world, leaving you feeling pampered and refreshed to face the tropical heat.
Arvy made the move from New York to Bali four years ago, feeling determined and ready to take on a new challenge in life. As a woman growing up in the stylish streets of New York City, where boutique salons offering high-end services were not hard to come by, it was no wonder Arvy was missing the likes of full in-house nail salons in Bali. Two years on, she took her love and drive for all things nails and created a salon that would differentiate itself from the others.
Unlike many spas in Bali where nails are an afterthought rather than a focus, Think Pink Nails is in a league of its own. Perched within a fireplace, there is shelf upon shelf displaying an impressive selection of premium and standard nail polish brands to suit all price points and needs. The collection is so expansive, Arvy says, it’s not even seen in New York. Whether you’re after long lasting wear, in which gel or acrylic nails should be considered, or vegan friendly, natural lacquers, Think Pink will have you covered.
Here, the details are important. A broken fingernail is not overlooked; instead, it is repaired with special nail glue or silk wrap for an additional cost, ensuring a smooth finish and the extra benefit of not having to forfeit the length of the nail.
Guests indulging in a pedicure and manicure are pampered in a theatrical space, with red velvet curtains draping behind grand white rolling massage chairs that shine under the spotlights.
For those looking to complete the theatrical experience, treat yourself to their cocktail menu, the ginger tea offers a revitalising kick great for an afternoon pick me up.
Like the name suggests, the message of ‘pink’ resonates throughout the salon. On entrance, you are greeted with celebrity quotes inspired by the colour, with the likes of Versace, Dior and Elizabeth Taylor all sharing their thoughts of pink.
In terms of design, every aspect is considered. The front is moulded around a cylindrical centrepiece, painted by a New York artist. A separate manicure bar rests at the back, each seat equipped with an iPad loaded with games and free Wi-Fi, allowing guests to find the perfect nail art and keep entertained throughout the process.
Don’t be fooled by the name, although Think Pink Nails specialises in nails, the salon also offers full spa treatments. Amongst the traditional beauty regimes like waxing and threading and hair treatments, here you will find specialised body wraps for sunburn or cellulite, as well as signature and pregnancy massages that are carried out in the private, all black massage and body treatment parlour.
Think Pink Nails exclusively carries Kiehl’s products that are used for their facials, including the ultra-hydrating, skin brightening, and anti-ageing facials that leave your skin glowing. All facials are accompanied by a complimentary foot massage/reflexology, easing every tension and bringing about a deep state of relaxation. The products, which are showcased in Luis Vuitton trunks, are available for purchase at the salon so you can keep your skin revitalised and healthy at home.
The establishment is also suitable for a family affair. If you’re enjoying the day with your little ones, the parlour has set up a special princess chair equipped with a footstool and basin so they too can be spoilt while you’re getting pampered. Men can also indulge in a sports manicure (no nail polish) for 100,000Rp.
What helps differentiate Think Pink Nails from other salons is their highly trained staff, who are experts in their field. All staff receives two months training upon employment, including professional customer relations coaching, which is reflected in the outstanding service they provide. To help educate and maintain the standards within the salon, every three to four months staff are sent to new cities, like Hong Kong and Singapore, to keep up with the modern world. “I really want the girls to keep up with the times and witness something other than Bali”, Arvy says with enthusiasm. Their training and knowledge resonate throughout Think Pink Nails, which is kept to an impeccable Western standard.
Along with nail and spa products, Think Pink Nails also stocks popular New York designer Kate Spade bags and wallets, local Spanish designer Ann Maria jewellery, and recently added Kerrie Barrie’s recycled rubber bracelets and cuffs. Cushions and gift packs are also available for purchase.
Bookings are not essential, however, are recommended for treatments from Thursday to Saturday and for groups of 10 plus. Walk-ins are welcomed and are best received during the quieter days of Monday to Wednesday. Bookings can be made online or via the Facebook page. There is a complimentary car service for guests within the areas of Seminyak and Canggu, which can be arranged two hours prior to the appointment.
Prices start from 120,000Rp for the signature manicure, with extras such as French tips and nail art coming at an additional cost. These affordable prices are all inclusive of tax and no additional fees are charged for credit card payments.
